About - Train

Jessica is a writer from Northern Virginia. She possesses a degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from The University of Mary Washington.

Jessica’s first published piece, “Train”, is an experimental flash fiction piece centered in social commentary and the dismantling of the concept of the “monster”. Jessica takes inspiration from everything and anything, but this particular piece drew influence from Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein” and Shirley Jackson’s “The Haunting of Hill House”.

These monsters, whether physical or mental, seem to manifest themselves through coping and trauma. Jessica attempts to capture the metaphorical with a more violent and literal approach in her piece, “Train”.
